Charlie Haden (1983) -The Ballad Of The Fallen

Artist: Charlie Haden
Albums: The Ballad Of The Fallen
Released: 1983
Quality: FLAC / mp3 CBR 320
Size: 274 / 129 MB

The second recording by Charlie Haden's Liberation Music Orchestra utilizes a few alumni (the bassist/leader, trumpeters Don Cherry and Mike Mantler, tenor saxophonist Dewey Redman, drummer Paul Motian and pianist Carla Bley), along with other musicians who rose to prominence since the 1969 debut album (Jim Pepper and Steve Slagle on reeds, trombonist Gary Valante, guitarist Mick Goodrick, Sharon Freeman on French horn, and Jack Jeffers on tuba). As with the first set, the music mixes together some melodic but avant-garde explorations with revolutionary themes including songs from the Spanish Civil War, El Salvador, Portugal and Chile. "Too Late," a duet by Bley and Haden, serves as a change of pace. The music is quite credible and emotional, and has dated well. ~ Scott Yanow

Dave Davani (2002) -Fused! The Swinging Soul Sound Of Dave Davani

Artist: Dave Davani
Albums: Fused! The Swinging Soul Sound Of Dave Davani
Released: 2002
Quality: mp3 CBR 224
Size: 108 MB

In the 1960s, Dave Davani was a leading purveyor of British Hammond organ-dominated soul-jazz, a genre far less prevalent in the U.K. than it was in America. Though his combos recorded only one album, 1965's Fused!, and a few singles, he played solid and swinging music in this style, somewhat in the mold of Americans like Big John Patton and Jimmy Smith, though at times a little more R&B- and soul-oriented. His use of the Hammond in particular expands his appeal a little beyond jazz listeners to fans of British Swinging London sounds, particularly those of jazzy R&B acts like Georgie Fame and Brian Auger, though unlike Fame, Davani stuck almost exclusively to instrumentals.~ Richie Unterberger

Patty Waters - 2 albums

Artist: Patty Waters
Albums: Patty Waters Sings / College Tour
Released: 1965 / 1966
Quality: mp3 CBR 320
Size: 75 / 89 MB

Patty Waters herself seems almost as mysterious as her debut record. Her birthplace and date do not usually appear in any articles written about her. All that is known is she moved to Denver, then to LA, where she came to the attention of Miles Davis and Herbie Hancock. She began voice lessons and Davis helped annotate her compositions. After doing her time through the ranks, she landed in New York. Albert Ayler spotted her at a gig, was impressed, and brought her to the attention of ESP. She recorded Sings and a few months later the live College Tour. Waters recorded with the Marzette Watts Ensemble, then by the end of the '60s had relocated to the west coast and raised a son, only sporadically doing shows until 1996's Love Songs. Despite her lack of output—two records in '65 and '66—she managed to leave an impact on the future of vocal jazz. ~ Trevor MacLaren

O Lendário Chucrobillyman (2008) -The Chicken Album

Artist: O Lendário Chucrobillyman
Albums: The Chicken Album
Released: 2008
Quality: mp3 CBR 160
Size: 29 MB

In his new album titled "The Chicken Album", "O Lendário Chucrobillyman" shows us new musical compositions fully based in the Brasilian country acoustic guitar sonority called “viola” introducing something about "The Chicken Style". The Chicken Style or “O estilo da Galinha” in Portuguese speaking, it’s a kind of style based in the way of delta blues players mixed with the style of the brazilian viola players so the 10 string viola sonority came by itself. All the songs were arranged and composed with a percussive concern, in this way the percussion was composed by pieces of rubish like oil cans, washboards, cardboard boxes, a garbage can as a bassdrum, kitchen pans, and scrapmetal. Enjoy this Trash primitve country garage album with all your family and friends.

The Pete Jolly Trio (1996) -Yeah!

Artist: The Pete Jolly Trio
Albums: Yeah!
Released: 1996
Label: VSOP
Quality: lossless (FLAC+Cue)
Size: 397 MB

Pete Jolly and his sidemen (bassist Chuck Berghofer and drummer Nick Martinis) celebrated their 21st year as a regularly working trio with this fine V.S.O.P. CD. The musicians sound quite enthusiastic and creative within the boundaries of straight-ahead jazz, showing that they had not run out of ideas yet. Jolly alternates hot pieces with ballads, standards with obscurities. It is a particular pleasure to hear the powerful pianist interpret such rarely performed songs as George Wallington's "Variations," "Crazeology," Al Cohn's brooding ballad "Ah-Moore" and Shorty Rogers' "Diablo's Dance." Other highlights of the enjoyable set include Horace Silver's "Yeah," "Lullaby of the Leaves" and Zoot Sims' "The Red Door." All those years of playing together have definitely paid off. ~ Scott Yanow, AMG
